19th Annual Seattle Black Film Festival

The 19th annual Seattle Black Film Festival will once again animate the halls of the Langston Hughes Performing Arts Institute in Seattle's historically Black Central District, April 29-May 1. The three-day weekend of in-person and video on demand screenings, panels and events will host an international selection of over forty feature films, music videos, documentaries and short films; showcasing the range and depth of the Black experience on the big screen.

The 2022 festival will feature a melanin-rich blend of curated and official selection works from four continents. We’ll kick off on Friday April 29th at 6pm with our traditional Evening of Black Cinematic Brilliance short film showcase; beginning with a mixer and happy hour, where guests and filmmakers are invited to gather in celebration of Black brilliance. Following the mixer, the short film showcase will begin at 7pm with a powerful line-up of local, national and international narratives. The festival closes on Sunday May 1st with an exceptional presentation by special festival guests, WACO Theater Center Co-Artistic Directors, Richard Lawson and Tina Knowles Lawson of the documentary film The Evolution of African Dance and the behind-the-scenes short documentary of the making of Black Terror

Festival passes are on sale now and single event tickets will be available soon! Watch the festival trailer here.
