Boards and Commissions are designed to give Washingtonians a voice in their government and allow citizens to influence decisions that shape the quality of life for the residents of our state. 

The Commission on African Americans Affairs was created in 1989 by the state legislature, RCW 43.113.020.  We have 3 staff and 9 volunteer commissioners.

You may apply at any time, regardless of whether there is a current or upcoming vacancy. Ocassionally, vacancies occur periodically throughout the year.
