Commissioner Corwin Scott

Region:
Pierce County
Term:
First Term: Appointed January 2025
Term Expires:
November, 2027

My name is Corwin R. Scott, and I am a lifelong Tacoma resident. As a resident, I have always wanted to serve my community in any capacity that would do the best for the least of our community members. As a commission member, I will continue to serve my community by listening to the needs of my neighbors and carrying those voices to the changemakers to guide their decisions.

The desire to aid community members led me to create a nonprofit agency, the Evergreen Empowerment Group (EEG), to assist people returning from prison to vacate and expunge their nonviolent criminal records. As the executive director of the EEG, I have assisted several grassroots organizations get their start throughout the Puget Sound.

In my academic life, I earned a bachelor’s degree from the Evergreen State College in Tacoma, obtained a double MBA in Marketing and Management and attended law school, but I am not an attorney.

My day job is at the Washington State Department of Transportation (WSDOT) as the Title VI Specialist. In this role, I am a statewide subject matter expert and have agency-wide responsibility for the administration, direction, and oversight of WSDOT’s statewide Title VI Program under the Community Engagement and Environmental Justice Manager.  The Title VI program ensures all agency programs, activities and services are equitable and implemented in a non-discriminatory fashion.

As a commissioner, I want to hear the voices that have concerns and the voices that have solutions. This is still one of my responsibilities as an elected Precinct Committee Officer in the 29th LD.

I am honored and humbled to be part of this commission and will faithfully serve my community to the best of my ability.
